Ceramic Injection Moulding (CIM) offers the possibility to form complex geometries by using an almost standardized type of injection moulding. During this process, characteristics of ceramics are combined with injection moulding techniques.
The process chain starts off with the green part – a mixture of ceramics powder and plastics. To this time, the part measures about 30% more in size than the final product. During debinding and sintering, which means „burning“, the part shrinks to the favored size.
Subsequently, the parts (still grey in colour) are finished according to their designation as design elements (grinding, polishing, laser labeling or coating.
